Even after a disappointing 2025 season, Patrick Mahomes remains one of the NFL's biggest stars. But the latest sales rankings from the NFL Players Association suggest the Kansas City Chiefs' grip on the merch landscape may be slipping.
Because Mahomes has been in the league for 10 seasons now, it's not a surprise that he's no longer the shiny new toy in the NFL as far as jersey sales (and other wares) go. He was once a shoo-in to be at or near the top of jersey sales lists, but that's not the case anymore. Mahomes is still in the top 10 this year, however, even with a poor season (at least for him).
According to the NFLPA, Mahomes finished sixth in player sales rankings, which include jerseys, shirts, hoodies, basically anything sold through the NFL with his name on it. That's still pretty impressive considering how long he's been in the league.

The five players above him are Josh Allen, Drake Maye, Saquon Barkley, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Jayden Daniels. Rounding out the top 10 behind him are Jalen Hurts, Caleb Williams, Jordan Love, and Micah Parsons. Out of the top 10, seven are quarterbacks, which isn't a surprise given the importance and value of the position.
The next highest Chief on the list is tight end Travis Kelce, who shockingly landed at 29th. That seems pretty low for a guy who's dating the most popular pop star on the planet and is one of the most charismatic players in the entire league. No other Chiefs players ranked in the top 50.
Considering the year the Chiefs had in 2025, maybe it's not too much of a surprise to only see the quarterback and tight end make the cut. On the other hand, this is a team that's played in five Super Bowls since 2020, so it was a bit jarring to only see two guys there.
At the end of the day, however, there are so many talented players in the league, and with Mahomes and Kelce having been around the block for as long as they have, it's no surprise to see people buy merchandise of more up-and-coming players, like Maye and Daniels. It doesn't mean Mahomes and Kelce aren't still popular; it just means other players are basking in the sales spotlight right now, and that's perfectly fine.
