Just as we all suspected.

Travis Kelce re-signed with the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason, opting to return for a 14th NFL season instead of walking off into the retirement sunset. Before he officially decided to come back for another year, there were some interesting reports floating around out there.

The strangest was that Kelce was actually listening to offers from other teams. At the time, this felt like a really random report given that Kelce never seemed interested in leaving Kansas City and it always seemed that he'd either retire or continue to play for the Chiefs.

Ultimately, Kelce returned on a one-year deal worth $12 million. He'll return for a 14th NFL season and all is right in the world. First Things First co-host and Chiefs fan Nick Wright said that Kelce signing with another team was never going to happen.

"I was surprised that there were folks, some friends of mine, in the NFL media that were willing to be like 'Breaking news: Travis Kelce [is] listening to other teams.' No, he wasn't," Wright said on The Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday. "There was a zero percent chance he was gonna play for anybody else and I think everybody knew that."

Nick Wright states what Chiefs fans knew all along about Travis Kelce

Chiefs fans had an inkling that this was the case. After all, Kelce has spent the entirety of his pro career in Kansas City and has never hesitated to express his love for the city and the team. Seeing him suit up in a uniform that wasn't the Chiefs would have been downright bizarre.

As we know now, he's back with the Chiefs and we won't have to see him in any other uniform. Wright's comments make sense but why were those reports coming out then? Was Kelce trying to get more money? Were other teams talking to him and making it sound more intense than it really was? Or was it just offseason nonsense that we see plenty of this time of year?

We might never know unless Kelce wants to fill us in on his podcast but the good news is that he's back in K.C. and we'll have at least one more year of the future Hall of Fame tight end.
