Week 2 of the 2025 season was one to (mostly) forget for tight end Travis Kelce. The Kansas City Chiefs' star bobbled a touchdown pass in the end zone on what would have been a go-ahead drive in a hard-fought game against the Philadelphia Eagles. That miscue bounced into the hands of Eagles safety Andrew Mukuba for an interception that not only killed the drive, but robbed the Chiefs of any late-game momentum to put them away.
Apparently that wasn't the only thing that cost Kelce and the Chiefs from the Eagles matchup.
Travis Kelce is having a memorable 2025 season so far, and not in a good way.
The National Football League decided to fine Kelce nearly $15K for "unsportsmanlike conduct/obscene gestures", per NFL reporter Tom Pelissero.

The sad part is that Kelce's fine comes in response to a play that was actually a tremendous pickup in the third quarter on a 2nd-and-7 play that not only got the first down but went for 23 total yards.
The fine is a bit of salt in a festering wound known as the Chiefs offense at this point. Kelce's errors are only a small part of a larger frustrating picture featuring other concerns like the league's worst backfield, a lack of playmakers in the receiving room, and plenty of penalties up front.
There's not a single player or coach exempt from some of the blame of the Chiefs' stagnant offense. What makes matters worse is that instead of getting some much-needed reinforcements this week in the form of Xavier Worthy's return from a torn labrum suffered in Week 1, reports have Worthy likely missing another week with the injury.
That blow to Worthy was also Kelce's fault, a freak accidental collision on the team's first drive in Week 1 that neutered the offense from the outset of a new season. Together with the suspension to Rashee Rice, the Chiefs have been scrambling for answers—or forcing Mahomes to scramble—ever since the regular season began.
Kelce and the Chiefs are hoping to put some of the misery behind them when they visit MetLife Stadium to face the New York Giants in primetime on Sunday, September 21.
