Nooooooo!

The Kansas City Chiefs could certainly use help at the running back position. That became even more of a known fact after Isiah Pacheco was injured during the Chiefs' blowout win over Washington on Monday night.

A lot of Chiefs fans were crossing their fingers that Brett Veach would somehow be able to swing a deal for Jets star running back Breece Hall ahead of the trade deadline to really give them some pop in the backfield. After all, the Jets aren't going anywhere this year and Hall is a free agent as soon as the 2025 season comes to a close. Why not throw your hat in the ring if you're Veach and the Chiefs?

Well, Dan Graziano of ESPN might have ruined all of our days with his latest report on Hall's availability ahead of the trade deadline. Graziano, in his and Jeremy Fowler's weekly trade buzz update, discussed how Hall being traded once seemed like a sure thing but is no longer the case anymore.

"[T]here are people in the Jets building who are leery of the idea of trading Hall, who showed Sunday that he can still be a dynamic threat and a key element of their offense. He ran for 133 yards and two scores, and he also threw a touchdown pass.

The fact is, there's a price for almost everything, and if a team gives the Jets a strong enough offer for Hall, they would probably take it. But a couple of weeks ago, I would have expected them to deal Hall just to get something in return before he left as a free agent. Now, it feels more possible that they consider bringing Hall back next season, in which case they might be more hesitant to trade him now."

Chiefs’ dream Breece Hall trade just took a big hit from NFL insider

There's no debating that the Chiefs could desperately use Hall in their rushing attack. Even if Pacheco is healthy, he's not the same guy he once was and Hall would be an upgrade at the lead back spot for sure. The Jets running back has rushed for 581 yards and two touchdowns while hauling in another 178 receiving yards, giving him 759 scrimmage yards through eight games. That's the kind of production that Andy Reid would love to have in his backfield.

The unfortunate reality though is that the Jets now appear to be reconsidering if they want to deal their star running back or not. They have some injuries at the position and have seen firsthand what a star the guy can be for them.

At the same time though, Hall is slated to be a free agent at season's end and he's not going to win a Super Bowl with the Jets. He'd have a chance to do just that in Kansas City if the Chiefs traded for him. He'd be the best running back they've had in quite some time and could be what helps get them their fourth Super Bowl win in six years.

If the Jets are hesitant to trade Hall, that'd be a big blow to the Chiefs but hopefully something could still get worked out here.
