Myles Garrett throws helmet off after suffering apparent eye injury versus Chiefs
By Matt Conner
The Cleveland Browns don't strike much fear in the hearts of opponents these days, as they're in the midst of a need to rebuild with only three total wins under their belt. However, the thought of at least facing Myles Garrett is the one thing that every other NFL team is the most afraid of.
Unfortunately, Cleveland watched Garrett go down in the first half of their game against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in Week 15. After tossing his helmet off in order to cover his eye, Garrett was clearly in pain and lying facedown at Huntington Bank Field while trainers ran out to meet him.
On the play, Joe Thuney was working opposite him after sliding over to play left tackle for the Chiefs. The team made the decision after learning on Saturday that left tackle D.J. Humphries would not be able to go with a hamstring injury and they didn't want to go with either young player on the roster in Wanya Morris or Kingsley Suamataia.
Thuney had performed well opposite Garrett so far on the afternoon before seeing Garrett go down with the injury as the Chiefs found Noah Gray for a short touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes on the play to take a 13-0 lead.
Here's the injury in question:
Garrett was able to return to the game for the Browns shortly before halftime.
