Update: The Chiefs should be able to take off to Denver on Saturday now that the runways are clearing.
Just in case you thought Week 18 was lacking in drama for the Kansas City Chiefs, Mother Nature decided to add a bit of intrigue.
The Chiefs are scheduled to visit the Denver Broncos to close out their regular season in Week 18 with a road trip to Mile High. At stake is... well, nothing of consequence for the Chiefs. They've won 15 of 16 games already and have locked up the division, the conference, and home-field advantage throughout the postseason.
For all intents and purposes, Week 18 is meaningless to K.C. except for a minor subplot for younger players to showcase what they can do with greater opportunity (and to hurt the Broncos, if possible).
Good thing this game is rather meaningless for the Chiefs.
But now, things have changed a bit. That's because, at this point, you have to wonder if the Chiefs will find a way to get there.
Due to the airport being closed, Chiefs plane stranded as of now. They were set to arrive at 3. #Chiefs https://t.co/YfiQART2wz

Can confirm, Chiefs charter still at MCI. The club tried to move the flight up but the charter plane was delayed arriving in KC and had to stick with regularly scheduled departure.

Hope is a runway gets cleared and takeoff possible soon. https://t.co/z4WIJAW6op
Yikes. What does this mean? At this point it's hard to say, but the winter storm warning that's been expected to affect so much of the Midwest has already taken hold and made life difficult for the Chiefs.
The Broncos and Chiefs aren't expected to take the field until 3:25 p.m. C.T. on Sunday afternoon, so there's still time for all parties involved to figure out how to solve the issues on the ground at KCI or alternate means of travel. That said, weather is going to be a factor any way they go.
We'll keep you posted here with further updates as we get them in relation to the Chiefs-Broncos game on Sunday.
