One of the most iconic moments in Kansas City Chiefs history occurred during the 2022 AFC Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills. The Chiefs were trailing with just 13 seconds remaining in regulation but managed to force overtime and then go on to walk off as winners.
It's been a game famously dubbed "The 13 Seconds Game", much to Bills fans' chagrin. Someone who experienced the pain of losing that game was Mitch Morse, who, at the time, was the starting center for Buffalo. Morse was on the sideline as he watched Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense force overtime and later, lead the charge in overtime as well.
Morse recently posted on X that he finally sat down and watched that game from start to finish. The post will make Chiefs fans crack up laughing.
"Took me over four years to sit down and rewatch the “13 seconds” game from start to finish… wish I hadn’t"
Mitch Morse just reopened a painful Bills memory for Chiefs fans
I'm not sure why Morse would torture himself by rewatching this game but I guess good for him for being a good sport about the whole thing. This isn't the first time the former Chiefs and Bills center spoke about the game either.
Morse previously spoke about the 13 seconds game in late March, mentioning that it sucked the soul out of him. He also discussed how he lived in Kansas City during the offseason so he still had to be reminded of the pain of the loss when his neighbors were celebrating the Chiefs' playoff run.
"The thing is I lived in Kansas City and so that's where we called home base in the offseason. Of course we had to fly back, do exit interviews, and I'm coming straight back to Kansas City," Morse had said. "I mean objectively you take a step back it's one of the greatest games, but man did it not suck the soul out of you."
The only thing that tarnishes the legacy of the 13 seconds game is that K.C. did not go on to win it all. The Chiefs fell in overtime in the AFC Championship game to the Cincinnati Bengals the very next week, which was an unfortunate ending for our guys.
Still, it's hilarious that Morse, for whatever reason, is deciding to torment himself by rewatching a game that he knows his team loses in historical fashion. This is just another instance where Chiefs fans can have some fun at Bills fans' expense.
