Some former Kansas City Chiefs free agents who have been waiting for a call for a couple of months to start the new league year have finally earned some visits in the last week. Defensive end Mike Danna recently earned a look from the Buffalo Bills, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Fowler notes that Danna has a recent visit but makes no further mention of a contract offer or even a level of interest. All that can be gleaned at this point is that the Bills are kicking the tires on potential help on the edges of the defensive line as they survey their interests before training camp begins later this summer.

That Danna was released by the Chiefs coming out of the 2025 season was an expected move, given the looming financial hit from the final year of an original three-year extension signed in 2024. Danna's ceiling made it an easy call to create $8 million in cap space by cutting him, but that doesn't mean he lacked value to the team—or for other potential suitors, for that matter.

Mike Danna has been a free agent since his release in late February.

The Chiefs tried to do right by Danna by giving him a head start before the blitz of free agency began. He was released in late February, but the extra two weeks failed to earn him a home before scores of other competitors joined him in March.

Danna was drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by general manager Brett Veach and was the first of his selections to earn a second contract. Danna climbed the depth chart and became a starter opposite George Karlaftis, with 25 tackles for loss, 21.5 sacks, and 74 total pressures in 87 games with the Chiefs (49 career starts).

Danna isn't the only former Kansas City defender trying to find work at this time of year. Former Chiefs safety Nazeeh Johnson held a recent visit with the Philadelphia Eagles, although no deal was announced. Other players like wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and running back Kareem Hunt are also longtime vets waiting for an offer.
