Super Bowl 58 will always have a special place in Kansas City Chiefs fans' hearts. Not only did the team win the game, but in doing so, it became the first franchise since the 2003-04 Patriots to win back-to-back Super Bowls. The victory also cemented the Chiefs as the NFL's dynasty of the 2020s, giving them their third championship in a five-year span.

The Chiefs walked off the field as Super Bowl champions when Patrick Mahomes connected with Mecole Hardman for the game-winning touchdown in overtime. It's a moment Hardman recently reflected on, a conversation in which he revealed the one thought that raced through his mind before making the catch.

"'Tom and Jerry Right'. That's all I hear," Hardman said on I Scored A Touchdown. "Once they call that play, I'm like, 'All right, you know, I got a chance to get the ball here.' I didn't see it until it was like halfway to me. I'm going through literally everything in my mind, like, 'You gotta turn up, you in the end zone, you did everything right,' and all I can remember is like, 'What if I drop that?' ... But I caught it... The rest is history."

History indeed.

As Chiefs fans know, Hardman's catch helped cement Kansas City's dynasty. It's remarkable that he was the one who came through because, just four months earlier, he wasn't even on the Chiefs' roster.

Let's not forget that Hardman had initially signed with the Jets in free agency. He was passed over on the depth chart going into the season and caught only one pass in his first five games. The Chiefs decided to bolster their own wide receiver corps before the NFL's trade deadline, but even after he reunited with the Chiefs, Hardman still wasn't a primary target by any measure. That makes Hardman's moment so much more meaningful.

Considering Hardman had just 14 receptions for 118 yards and no touchdowns in six regular-season games after returning to Kansas City, few would have predicted he'd become the hero of Super Bowl 58. Yet the former second-round pick etched his name into Chiefs history with one catch that no one in Kansas City will ever forget.

Hardman may never end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he can say he's done something very few players ever have. That's one heck of a legacy.
