Patrick Mahomes has once again been recognized for doing what he does best: taking over a game. On Wednesday, the NFL announced Mahomes as the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Kansas City Chiefs’ 37-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Mahomes enjoyed a banner day against Baltimore, which was a welcome sight for Chiefs fans waiting for some echo of fireworks past to manifest itself in the present. The passing attack had looked neutered in the absence(s) of Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. However, Mahomes came to life with Worthy's return from a shoulder injury in Week 1 and buried the Ravens for the team's second win.

Mahomes completed 25 of 37 passes for 270 yards and 4 touchdowns with no interceptions on Sunday. His 124.8 passer rating was the highest of any AFC passer in Week 4, and his 4 touchdown throws stood as the league’s only such performance of the week. It also marked the 18th time in Mahomes’ career that he’s thrown at least 4+ touchdowns in a single game—yet it was his first since 2023.

This marks the 11th time Mahomes has earned a Player of the Week honor, the most in Chiefs franchise history. Mahomes' history of wins stretches back to his first season as Kansas City's starting quarterback in 2018, when he won in back-to-back honors to open the year. He’s also collected the honor in 2019 (Week 2), 2020 (Weeks 3 and 8), 2021 (Weeks 1 and 10), 2022 (Weeks 1 and 4), 2023 (Week 12), and now 2025 (Week 4).

On the season, Mahomes has completed 61.3 percent of his passes for 939 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 1 interception. With Worthy back in the fold, the maturation of other young players, and the return of Rice in Week 7, Mahomes is likely to bank another offensive award or two before the 2025 season is finished.
