Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are set to play in yet another Super Bowl. This time, of course, they are on a quest to complete the highly-coveted and never-been-done task of a Super Bowl three-peat.
At only 29 years old, it seems pretty absurd to think about Mahomes playing in his fifth Super Bowl already. The pace he is on, currently, could shatter every postseason record the league has ever seen. Moreover, Mahomes could cement himself as the GOAT, over Tom Brady, in just a few more short years.
What Mahomes has been able to do is nothing short of incredible, but just how good has he been in the postseason?
In short, he's been nearly untouchable in January and February football. The man has already played a total of 20 postseason games and you can count his losses on less than five fingers.
What is Patrick Mahomes' record in the playoffs?
Going into Super Bowl 59, Patrick Mahomes holds a playoff record of 17-3.
One of those losses came in a Super Bowl, which we'll get to in just a moment. His three postseason losses, though, came by way of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, then Brady again with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and most recently the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2022 AFC Championship Game.
Mahomes has had some memorable postseason games already, with plenty more yet to come. Maybe the biggest performance he's ever had in the playoffs came in the 2022 AFC Wild Card Round against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In that route of Pittsburgh, the Chiefs won 42-21 on the heels of Mahomes' career playoff-high 404 passing yards and five passing touchdowns. Mahomes has only thrown five touchdowns in one other playoff game which came back in just his third career postseason start against the Houston Texans.
What is Patrick Mahomes' record in the Super Bowl?
Going into Super Bowl 59, Patrick Mahomes holds a record of 3-1 in Super Bowls.

When trying to come up with Mahomes' best performance in a Super Bowl, that's a tough question to answer. If you're going purely based off stats, then his Super Bowl career-high in passing yardage came just last year against the 49ers when he finished with 333 to go with two passing touchdowns.
But, in the Chiefs' previous Super Bowl win over the Eagles, Mahomes put together a well-rounded game that saw him throw three touchdowns (just 182 passing yards) and also added 44 yards on the ground. Most impressively, Mahomes went without being sacked in this game that ended up being very close.
