The Kansas City Chiefs are fighting for first place in the AFC West. Standing in their way is the Denver Broncos, who are also fighting for first place in the division. The Chiefs saw an injury occur early on, unfortunately, as Peter Woods exited the game in the first quarter.

The Chiefs' pass-rush hasn't given us much to write home about to this point in the season but it's a young group that needs time to gel together. Woods is going to be a big part of it down the road.

The Chiefs drafted Woods at the end of the first round in this year's draft with the idea that he'd eventually replace Chris Jones when he hung up the cleats. Woods, a near-300 pound defensive lineman out of Clemson, received a first or second-round grade from Lance Zierlein of NFL.com ahead of the draft.

"Woods is a young interior defender with room to add play strength as he fills out his frame. He’s not a pure one- or two-gap fit, but he’s capable in both schemes," Zierlein reported on Woods before the draft.

It really felt as though Woods falling all the way to Kansas City at the end of the first round was an absolute steal. While things have been pretty up and down for him as a rookie, he's still young and will hopefully develop into a great player under Steve Spagnuolo.

Nate Taylor of ESPN reported in the second quarter that Woods was on the sideline but not allowed to go back into the game. The Chiefs' official social media account posted that Woods was questionable to return with a neck injury, so maybe he returns against the Broncos, maybe he doesn't.

We'll keep this post updated as we learn more.
