It's impossible for anyone to tell with absolute clarity what is real or not when it comes to the latest NFL Draft rumors swirling before the 2025 event gets underway—even an insider like an Adam Schefter. However, if the latest rumors hold up, the Kansas City Chiefs have to be quite happy with the way things are falling their way as the first round approaches.

NFL reporter Jordan Ranaan has word that two of the league's neediest franchises—the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants, specifically—are zeroing in one of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft class. And that could play right into Brett Veach's hands as the Chiefs general manager.

Jaxson Dart is the prospect in the crosshairs of the reported interest on the part of the Browns and Giants, and Ranaan specifically mentions the Denver Broncos' draft slot at No. 20 overall as a potential place for a team to trade in front of the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21.

The latest NFL Draft rumors suggest KC could benefit big time from a surge in QB demand.

Those semantics don't really matter to the Chiefs—the slotting and even the teams involved—except to say that any team taking a quarterback before the Chiefs in the first round means that another high-quality prospect at another position—one of need for Kansas City—makes it that much farther down the draft board.

The Chiefs are used to the best players being out of range by the time they're on the clock, given their perennial position at or near the bottom of the draft. Given that Patrick Mahomes is a fixture, however, it means that any team taking a quarterback helps to shift any players in their view down a bit further.

For every spot a desirable prospect falls, it's that much closer to Veach being able to work his magic. He's known for his aggression so even if a trade up for Dart shifts an elite player that much farther down the board, it might very well be the difference between being in range for a trade up or having to stay put and go with Plan B.

Veach has already stated that the Chiefs have fewer blue-chip players on their internal draft board than normal, so their chances of acquiring such a player remain slim. But the latest draft rumors at least make that a bit more realistic.
