While the Kansas City Chiefs battled the New York Jets to try and get their sixth win of the season, some injury news arose. Starting right tackle Jaylon Moore exited the game late in the third quarter, which brought Joshua Ezeudu onto the field in his place.
Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reported that Moore "hobbled off the field". No immediate update was given on Moore.
It's worth noting that this isn't the first injury the right tackle has dealt with this season. Three weeks ago, Moore exited the game against the Chargers in the first half after suffering a concussion and missed the following game in Seattle. Now he's out of the action once again, but with a different injury this time.
Matt Derrick reported as the fourth quarter played on that Moore went over to the medical table and got "a new tape job on his right foot/ankle."
Jaylon Moore injured during Week 9 vs. Jets
Once the Chiefs came back out for the ensuing drive, Moore was not in the lineup at right tackle. Ezeudu, who the Chiefs traded for in the preseason, was filling in at right tackle instead. The Chiefs officially ruled Moore as Questionable to return with an ankle injury.
It wasn't a great performance for Moore on Sunday before getting injured. He was the one responsible for letting Jets pass-rusher David Bailey get to Patrick Mahomes when it looked as though he hurt his elbow.
All things considered, Moore's PFF numbers are decent this year. His overall grade sits at 62.2 and he's allowed three sacks and been flagged four times. Chiefs fans might find themselves frustrated with Moore but things could certainly be worse (and we saw that play out in Week 7 in Seattle when Moore missed the game).
Moore is in a contract year with the Chiefs and he's running out of time to prove that he's worthy of getting paid like a starting tackle next spring.
We'll update this post as more information about Moore's ankle injury is revealed.
