Chiefs offseason buzz grows as Breece Hall rumors refuse to go away

Chiefs fans wouldn't say no to this.

There will be no playoffs for the Kansas City Chiefs this year. It's a weird feeling but Chiefs fans can officially look ahead to the offseason and what that might bring.

One position the team desperately needs an upgrade at, whether that's in the draft or in free agency, is at running back. Brett Veach reportedly tried to take a swing there by attempting to trade for Breece Hall ahead of the deadline but the Chiefs and the Jets could not agree on a trade. Hall could be available in the offseason so the Chiefs might have another shot at bringing him to Kansas City.

Alex Kay of Bleacher Report listed the Chiefs as a possible landing spot for Hall next year pointing out how bad the rushing attack has been for K.C. He noted Isiah Pacheco's injuries and inconsistencies and how Kareem Hunt isn't "moving the needle" enough for the run game to be threatening.

"Signing Hall would add a new dynamic to Kansas City's ground game, providing an edge this squad has lacked since Hunt's early years with the organization. He could work as a focal point for the offense during Mahomes' absence in 2026 and profiles as an excellent playmaker for the signal-caller to work with when he eventually gets back on the field."

Chiefs may finally fix broken run game with bold Breece Hall pursuit

Hall, a second-round pick out of Iowa State by the Jets in 2022, has rushed for 900 yards and three touchdowns and hauled in another 323 yards and a touchdown as a pass-catcher. He's on a bad Jets team but has been one of that team's few bright spots. Imagine the damage he could do with the Chiefs (assuming they actually try to run the ball with him and don't ignore that part of the offense).

The Chiefs need to fix their run game and Hall gives them an excellent chance to do just that. It's worth noting that the Jets could still bring Hall back in 2026 doing so either through a new contract or the franchise tag. They did opt to hold onto him ahead of the trade deadline so that shows they were at least serious about not giving up on him when so many other teams were interested in him.

That being said, this won't be the last time Hall is linked to Kansas City and, hopefully, Veach can make it happen this time.
