With the Kansas City Chiefs officially releasing their final 53-man roster, many players from the 90-man preseason roster earned spots on the Chiefs' practice squad. Several veterans have graced the practice squad, including Emmanuel Ogbah, Ethan Driskell, and Kader Kohou.
Kohou is one of the more interesting pieces on the Chiefs' practice squad, so let's take a look at his background and see where he will provide value.
Kohou's college background
Kohou played college football at East Texas A&M in Commerce from 2016 to 2021. In 2017, during his redshirt season, he was part of the team that won the Division II National Championship. Throughout his career, he had 111 total tackles, five interceptions, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two defensive touchdowns. Furthermore, he had 348 return yards as a returner. He earned first-team All-Lone Star Conference honors in 2019 and second-team honors in 2018.
NFL career: Dolphins to the Chiefs
Kohou entered the NFL as a UDFA with the Miami Dolphins in 2022. He had an impressive rookie year, playing in 15 games, starting 13, and tallying 72 total tackles (63 solo), 10 pass deflections, one interception, and one forced fumble:

Kohou's good play continued in 2023, when he played in all 17 games, started 16, and had 63 total tackles (52 solo), 10 pass deflections, and one sack. In 2024, he also had a solid showing, with 45 total tackles (33 solo), eight pass deflections, two interceptions, and one forced fumble.
In 2025, Kohou tragically tore his ACL before the preseason, causing him to miss the season. Once the 2026 offseason began, the Dolphins did not re-sign him, which led Kohou to sign with the Chiefs on March 12. He then signed with the Chiefs' practice squad on September 1.
What can we expect if he is promoted
Kohou provides valuable veteran experience for the Chiefs' backfield, especially as a nickel or slot cornerback. He has displayed very good ball skills throughout his career, showing strong concentration and hand quickness that allow him to get his hands on the ball to force either a turnover or an incompletion.
Additionally, Kohou can provide value on special teams. Kohou can provide solid depth if necessary. There is always a chance for anyone on the practice squad to be called up during the season. For now, Kohou will provide the Chiefs' offense with looks on the practice squad and scout team. He is someone to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
