From the first time he took the NFL gridiron in his rookie season to present day, Patrick Mahomes hasn't shied away from wowing the rest of the league. Whether it's throwing left-hand passes, not looking when he throws the ball a receiver's way, or juking and making guys miss all the way to the end zone, Mahomes is no stranger to magic on the field.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels hadn't seen it in person until last season though, and once he saw it, he couldn't look away. This was highlighted on the newest season of Netflix's popular series, Quarterback, where Daniels is one of the featured stars for the show's third installment.
Daniels was injured and unable to play when his Commanders visited Arrowhead early on in the 2025 season but he still attended the game and watched from the sidelines. He was in awe of what he saw from Mahomes that night.
While mic'ed up, Daniels observed Mahomes as he led the Chiefs offense down the field time and time again. The Commanders quarterback couldn't hold back from how impressed he was either.
"I ain't seen this s*** in person myself," Daniels said as he watched from the Commanders' bench. "How did he find that? He just made up some s***... He good, bro."
Jayden Daniels clearly enjoyed watching Patrick Mahomes play in person
It was pretty comical seeing Daniels in absolute awe of Mahomes and what the Chiefs signal-caller was doing on the field that night. He continued in an interview outside the game.
"I appreciate just great QB play. It's an art," Daniels said. "No glaze. Like Patrick Mahomes is good at football."
That he is, Jayden. That he is.
Daniels knows a thing or two about the position, as he won a Heisman Trophy at LSU and was the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He also helped lead the Commanders to the NFC title game as a rookie. He very well could be the next big thing in the league at quarterback so it's cool seeing him not only get his flowers but to see him give Mahomes his flowers as well.
It was rather unfortunate that Daniels wasn't healthy for this game because it'd have been a lot of fun to see him and Mahomes square off in primetime. With Daniels sidelined, the Chiefs took full advantage, dominating the Monday night matchup with a 28–7 win in what was one of their best performances of the season.
For now though, you can add Jayden Daniels to the list of people wowed by what Patrick Mahomes is capable of on the gridirion.
