It's the present nobody needed to open.
When the Kansas City Chiefs take the field against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday, otherwise known as Christmas Day, both teams will have already played 2 games in the previous 10 days. With 3 games in 11 days, the NFL's schedule makers have bowed to the almighty dollar, provided here by the folks at Netflix as a new broadcast partner, while trading away any real interest in player health or concerns.
Unfortunately, the NFL has whored itself out to yet another outlet, to no one's surprise, which means the Chiefs and Steelers are both going to be putting their players at risk for greater injury after coming in already so embattled and fatigued.
If this sounds like complaining, it is. The Chiefs and Steelers are already plenty banged up and both teams have very real goals of representing the AFC in this year's Super Bowl. Yet it becomes that much tougher when you're the team that has to play on Wednesday because the league wanted even more money.
Here's hoping both teams play well and come away with a clean bill of health.
