It's impossible for Kansas City Chiefs fans to ignore Harrison Butker's struggles this season. Those struggles continued on Sunday against the Broncos, with Butker missing a 54-yard field goal that would have given the Chiefs more breathing room at the end of the game.

As we know, Butker missed, setting the Broncos up with great field position and, well, the rest is history, sadly. The Chiefs lost the game, and Butker is going to continue to be in the spotlight due to his poor performances this season.

To his credit, Butker spoke to the media following the loss and took accountability for the miss. He was asked if the weather had anything to do with the miss, as it had started to rain in Denver by the time Butker was called upon to attempt the kick, and he shook his head no.

Harrison Butker says weather wasn't factor in his missed field goal

Butker claimed this past week was one of the best weeks he'd had in practice, something that was asked due to the addition of Justin Tucker to the practice squad.

"Might have been one of my best weeks of practice. Justin's been great. Enjoyed talking with him and getting to know him a little bit more. So it's been a good week of practice. But it doesn't matter," Butker said. "When I say bad miss, I just completely missed the ball. Didn't even give it a chance... So that one just felt really bad and not good enough, obviously."

The nightmare season continues for Butker, as he's now missed six field goals through seven games. That is not going to cut it. If Butker is going to remain on this roster, he has to start doing his job, which is converting field goals. If he can't do that, then why is he still on the team?

Butker continues to struggle with no end in sight

While the Chiefs didn't solely lose this game because of Butker, that missed field goal certainly didn't help things. If he had made that, the Chiefs would have been up by six, and the Broncos wouldn't have gotten the ball at midfield. Even if Denver had scored a touchdown on the next drive, as they did in the actual game, the Chiefs would have only needed a field goal to win. Then again, with Butker's struggles, maybe that's not an ideal situation.

The fact of the matter is that the Chiefs need to have a kicker they can rely on, and Butker has not been that in nearly two years. If the Chiefs thought enough of Tucker to sign him to the practice squad, then maybe it's time to give him (or someone else, preferably) a chance to take over as the kicker. The season could depend on it.
