Former Chiefs safety finds new home with Tennessee Titans
By Matt Conner
The Tennessee Titans are developing an affinity for all things Chiefs. Whether they're sending players to Kansas City (wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins) or taking players from them (cornerback L'Jarius Sneed), this regime in Tennessee is certainly open to working with figures from K.C. in all sorts of ways.
Apaprently that includes players who used to be in Kansas City.
Former Kansas City Chiefs safety Mike Edwards found himself a free agent for just a short stint earlier this week after he was released by the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday. By Wednesday, the Tennessee Titans had already arranged for him to join their team to bolster the secondary.
The Titans are busy with former Chiefs, trading with the Chiefs, and general Chief-ery.
The Titans are bringing in Edwards to help mitigate the loss of veteran safety Quandre Diggs, who was injured on Sunday.
Edwards signed with the Chiefs last season on a one-year deal to help bolster the safety position following the completion of his rookie deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He won a Super Bowl last season with the Chiefs as part of a talented secondary, and his signing came in especially handy after the Chiefs lost Bryan Cook to injury.
In parts of 17 games last season, including 5 starts, Edwards had 2 fumble recoveries and 1 interception. And that includes this 97-yard recovery against the Chargers last year.
Edwards has hardly played this season for the Bills, who signed him in free agency only to have him passed up on the depth chart by younger players. The 28 year old has only a single tackle in three games so far in 2024.
