Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Coziah Izzard has been searching for a new home for the last month. He might have one just in time for training camp after a tryout in the desert.
The Arizona Cardinals held tryouts for a handful of players on Tuesday, and Izzard was one of multiple linemen hoping to turn heads in time for a home for the summer. Along with Izzard, the Cards were looking at former Tulane lineman Kameron Hamilton and former LSU tackle Jacquelin Roy.
Izzard, who recently turned 24 years old, played for five seasons at Penn State (2020-24) before making the leap to the NFL. He appeared in 51 games with 7 starts for the Nittany Lions, totaling 78 tackles (40 solo), 17.5 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, 3 QB hits, and 2 forced fumbles. His final 2024 season was his most productive—with 31 tackles (7 of those for a loss) and 2 sacks, including a strong showing against Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl—which is what helped him earn interest from the Chiefs.Â
Listed at 6-3, 305 pounds, Izzard went undrafted in 2025 despite a Pro Day that featured some impressive metrics (a 4.81-second time in the 40-yard dash, which would have been the best at his position at the NFL Combine, had he been invited, and a 33.5-inch vertical leap). Following the draft, he signed a three-year deal with the Chiefs with $225K guaranteed. When final roster cuts were due, Izzard was waived and then placed on the practice squad, only to be released again.
From there, the transaction trail picks up with the New Orleans Saints, who signed him to their practice squad after his release from K.C. He found a longer-term home there and landed a futures deal to join the offseason roster as well, but was recently released last month.Â
Given that Izzard earned notice from two teams in his rookie year and was gainfully employed for most of the year with the Saints, he’s a good bet to earn a training camp flyer from some team interested in further depth in the trenches. Maybe it will be with the Cardinals after his most recent tryout, but Izzard should feel good about his chances since he’s clearly on NFL radars as training camps come into view.Â
