The Kansas City Chiefs were back in action for Week 6, hosting the Chargers for a divisional showdown, after a week off for the bye. That means it's been a while since we've checked in on some former Chiefs and how they're doing.
The latest update gives us a look at Joe Thuney's ongoing impact with the Bears, a former Chiefs preseason RB favorite, and more.
Joe Thuney still solid but flawed
Last offseason, the Chiefs made a difficult decision, trading All-Pro offensive guard Joe Thuney to the Bears. It was a move that many scoffed at given how tremendous and sturdy Thuney is, but for the Chiefs' salary cap situation, it was a move that needed to happen.
Thuney thrived during his inaugural season in the Windy City, but how is Year 2 going for him with the Bears? It can sometimes be more difficult to know how offensive linemen are truly performing, so I reached out to Anthony Miller of Bear Goggles On, FanSided's Bears site, to get more information on how Thuney played in Week 6 and overall.
"Thuney has been good. Not as good as he was last year, as he has allowed a lot of pressures, but a lot of that is having to do with Garrett Bradbury struggling at center. But he's still solid."
Chiefs fans won't be the least bit shocked to see this response, as Thuney was also tasked with stepping in whenever there were injuries or struggles on Kansas City's O-line. For what it's worth, PFF credited him with 12 pressures allowed and two sacks allowed. Last year, he had just 15 pressures allowed and surrendered zero sacks, so clearly Bradbury's struggles are leaking into Thuney's production.
Trent McDuffie inactive for Rams with injury
The Rams and Cardinals played at the same time the Chiefs did, so some fans might not have picked up on the fact that Trent McDuffie didn't play. The former Chiefs cornerback was inactive for the Rams' Week 6 tilt at SoFi Stadium with a groin injury.
Los Angeles lost yet another game, dropping to 2-4 and last place in the NFC West. When the Rams acquired McDuffie in the deal with Kansas City, many felt that it was one of the many moves they had made to become the next superteam, but, well, that hasn't been going well so far.
Hopefully, McDuffie heals up and can contribute for the Rams soon.
Hollywood Brown continues to be non-factor for Eagles
While the Chiefs have had wide receiver injuries, the Eagles have injuries nearly everywhere on their roster. It's led to four straight losses after a 2-0 start, and Philly is obviously not going anywhere meaningful this season.
One might think that with all of the injuries they have, Hollywood Brown would get a chance to step up and make something happen, right? Right?!
Wrong.
Not only is wide receiver one of the healthier positions for the Eagles, but Brown has been a non-factor for them pretty much since training camp. He's barely suited up for them on game day, having been inactive for all but one of their games, and has just two carries on the year. Yes, you read that right, carries, not catches.
To say that the Eagles regret signing Brown would be a massive understatement. At this point, it wouldn't be a surprise if he doesn't make it through the season in Philly. He's already rumored to be a possible trade candidate. Could he end up back in Kansas City if so?
Carson Steele exits early for Eagles
Another former Chief found his way to Philadelphia after leaving Kansas City, with Carson Steele joining the Eagles earlier this year. With all of the injuries the Eagles have at running back, Steele was actually on track to earn meaningful playing time in Week 6.
That did not last long, though. Steele had one carry for four yards before exiting the game with a shoulder injury. Not exactly the kind of performance he was hoping to have after he finally got his big moment.
