The Kansas City Chiefs have an impressive history of drafting and developing center prospects for more than a decade. One of those finds, Mitch Morse, has officially retired from the National Football League after 10 seasons of solid play.

Morse posted his farewell address announcing his retirement on social media with a heartfelt message to his family and the organizations that have employed him during the last decade.

Morse was originally a draft pick for the Chiefs in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft—a class that also included cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Steven Nelson and wide receiver Chris Conley. General manager John Dorsey selected Morse out of Missouri to step into some big shoes as a rookie after the team lost center Rodney Hudson in free agency to the Raiders.

Mitch Morse put together an impressive resume after a full decade in the NFL.

The Chiefs found an instant hit up front with Morse and he held down the starting role from his first weeks at the NFL level. He would remain entrenched as the team's starter before hitting free agency once his rookie deal was completed following the 2018 season.

The Buffalo Bills rewarded Morse with a lucrative contract in free agency and the Chiefs decided to move on to stop-gap options like Austin Reiter. The Bills made Morse the highest-paid center in the game and he went on to reward the team with five seasons of above-average play—including one Pro Bowl nod in 2022.

Morse would find himself released by the Bills after five years and he latched on with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024 in his final season. He started all 17 games for the Jags, but decided to hang up the cleats after 10 years in the league.
