Keenan Allen is more than familiar with the Kansas City Chiefs after playing with their rivals, the San Diego-turned-Los Angeles Chargers, for 11 seasons. Perhaps he could never get over his emotions enough to join them, but Pro Football Network believes Allen could be a key addition to the Chiefs' receiving room in free agency.

Allen has been one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL during his career. He’s racked up 974 catches, 11,274 yards, and 66 touchdowns over 12 seasons, averaging 11.6 yards per catch. Even last year, at 32, he still put up solid numbers—70 catches, 744 yards, and 7 touchdowns in 15 games—for the Chicago Bears.

Perhaps the chance to play in the postseason could help Keenan Allen get over a rivalry.

Perhaps the rivalry is still a part of Allen's make-up, but there's no denying that a deep postseason run should be most welcome for Allen. Despite his production, he's only played in five playoff games in his career and two of those were back in 2013. That sort of dearth of postseason experience could make the Chiefs more palatable and inviting as a potential home.

Pro Football Network believes Allen could be the sort of discount veteran addition that makes sense over some more high-profile moves. "The Chiefs may well consider Chris Godwin, but his contract will likely be close to double that of Allen in AAV, making it tough to fill the defensive line’s needs."

Spotrac has Allen's market value at $11M per season and believes a two-year deal worth $22 million should be enough to get something done. The Chiefs have other pressing matters but they'll need to add at least one reliable veteran and Allen has a more reliable track record than the likes of Hollywood Brown.

The Chiefs have two brilliant young receivers to form the core of their offensive system in Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. However, the former is dealing with a likely suspension at some point in 2025 as well as returning from an injury. The Chiefs have several receivers hitting free agency, however, so signings and draft investments are both likely for the team.
