The biggest story of the 2025 NFL Draft hasn't been anyone the Kansas City Chiefs or one of the 31 other teams have selected, but rather the biggest name available who remains unselected. Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, once thought of as a Top 10 pick, remains without a team after the first three rounds.

Sanders, who was projected to go as high as the Top 10 and was considered a likely target at the back half of the first round, was not selected on Day 2 of the Draft. Passers like Tyler Shough and Dillon Gabriel were taken by the Saints and Browns, respectively, before Sanders came off the board.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes could only stare in disbelief as names came off the board before Sanders. Mahomes has seen a lot in the NFL, and this fall was still stunning enough to get him worked up on social media.

Mahomes tweeted out a perfect one-word tweet that encapsulates this fall, as "crazy" is a perfect name for the unprecedented slide down NFL Draft boards that has the league in shock. Even if he doesn't come to Kansas City, some fans will be watching him with great interest on Day 3.

While the Chiefs will likely not have an interest in Sanders, landing with a team like Kansas City might actually be the best thing for his career. Teams clearly have created a fake scenario in their heads where Sanders ends up becoming a media circus, as no talent evaluator believes he is a Day 3 player as a prospect.

Sanders may need to go to a team with a strong offensive coaching staff and a defined starter that won't start up benching rumors with every subpar game. Sanders could thrive with a team like the Chiefs or a Los Angeles Rams squad who was projected by many to select a quarterback at some point in the Draft.

No matter what happens on Day 3 for Kansas City or any other team in the league, Sanders falling as far as he has without any major legal concerns hanging over his stock will become the main story the 2025 NFL Draft will always be known for. Sanders coming into the NFL with a vote of confidence and support from the best quarterback in the league could help him get his trademark mojo back.
