The Kansas City Chiefs aren't exactly short on media coverage these days as the league's reigning dynasty. For the next several years, they'll be on the short list of Super Bowl favorites and that's after having won two of the last three championships. But for Chiefs Kingdom, ESPN announced some good news that a much deeper look is on the way.
A production studio called Words + Pictures will be producing a new multi-episode docuseries taking a look at the franchise's storied history and their present run of success under head coach Andy Reid, highlighting the golden era of Chiefs football.
Kristen Lappas will be directing the new six-part docuseries on the Chiefs.
The series will feature six episodes and will largely highlight the 2024 campaign while taking a look back over time at the franchise's overarching story. Kristen Lappas, who has helmed several 30 for 30 episodes, will direct the series, but fans of the Michael Jordan docuseries, The Last Dance, will be happy to know that much of the same staff will be working on this project as well.
Chiefs fans will likely not want to watch the finale of the series, assuming it features the team's devastating loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. However, the team's sustained greatness over such a long period in an era of NFL parity is something to be celebrated, which is why the Chiefs have been selected for this project.
The series has yet to receive an official title—or at least it's not been publicly revealed— but it will be seen on ESPN and Disney+ later this year.
