The Kansas City Chiefs have to feel good about their current status. At 4-0, they not only have a solo lead in the AFC West, with a one-game edge over the Las Vegas Raiders, but they're also the only unbeaten team remaining in the entire conference. That said, they're going into their bye with some considerable needs at wide receiver to address.

The Chiefs watched Tyquan Thornton and Rashee Rice both leave the team's Week 4 win over the Raiders with injuries, which creates some real hurdles for the offense. The same confusion extends to fantasy football managers, which is why it was great to have ESPN's Field Yates on the Arrowhead Addict podcast recently to help figure things out—on and off the field.

"Are you willing to roll the dice on Tyreek Hill, potentially, maybe likely coming back to Kansas City and bringing something to this offense? ... I didn't think I'd be saying the sentence, [but] without Tyquan Thornton, the Chiefs lack something real right now, which is a player with speed that can also win down the field," said Yates.

Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, recently stated that his client is likely to sign with a team soon after rehabbing a knee injury for the last year. Given his extensive history with the Chiefs, K.C. seems like the likeliest place for him to land.

As for potential answers already on the roster, former first-round pick Xavier Worthy (2024) makes sense given the level of investment. However, Yates isn't convinced he's ready to step up.

"Worthy just hasn't been able to apply that literal best-ever combine speed on the field," Yates said. "He's too easily knocked off of his line, and he has been more valuable to Kansas City in kind of created touches or manufactured touches than explosive plays."

Beyond Worthy, the Chiefs have second-year wideout Jalen Royals and rookie Cyrus Allen waiting in the wings, but a team with Super Bowl aspirations can't bank on inexperienced players to carry a signficant load when the upcoming schedule leans "heavyweight" after the bye.

Yates brought up a good point about Rice, however, explaining that his hamstring injury might not be an issue when Week 6 against the L.A. Chargers rolls around. "If Rashee Rice is healthy, he is the best option the Chiefs have at wide receiver," Yates said. "Maybe even if Tyreek Hill is back."
