Things have taken a turn.

Even former New England Patriots are probably thinking, "Glad we never went through that."

As the Kansas City Chiefs creep potentially closer to yet another Super Bowl appearance and the prospects of winning a third consecutive title, the amount of lunacy on social media in response to their sustained success has also been ridiculously amplified. Such are the times we're living in.

Fortunately there are still sane voices to be found within the noise to help guide us out of such a silly wilderness and toward saner spaces. Eric Stonestreet is one such voice, a Chiefs superfan and acclaimed actor who recently called out Adam Schefter with some unsuspecting trolling.

In case you've had a life to live other than scrolling Twitter (or X) for the last day, Schefter, perhaps the most prominent NFL reporter in the business, recently reported that the league was going to look into potential replay assist this offseason as NFL owners gather to discuss rule changes every spring. The only problem was the way he posted such news.

Yeah, that's Mahomes catching a stray as some poster child for calls that Schefter is implying should warrant a potential replay.

It's bad enough that there are very real conspiracy theories that the NFL has somehow rigged the game to make the Chiefs win—as if it helps the league to have a team from a mid-market dominate the headlines while America's biggest cities fail to host playoff games because the league wants to make less money. The whole thing is stupid.

Back to Stonestreet, who most people will remember as Cam from the ABC hit comedy Modern Family. He recently appeared on GameDay Morning and had this to say in response to Schefter during an interview segment.

"Don’t get mired down in Adam Schefter’s tweet about how the league is favoring the Chiefs. I mean, he called out Patrick Mahomes in his tweet like Patrick Mahomes is the only one on the beneficiary end of a roughing the passer call. He’s got the biggest reach in all of the NFL and here he’s out implying and furthering this conspiracy that the league is rigging the game against us.

"Here’s the deal: I love football. I love it all. I hate that stuff. Here’s what I also am. I am pro freedom of speech. I’m pro-freedom of though. You can think, if you’re watching this, the league rigs against the Chiefs. I support your thought process in that, but I think the one place that they wouldn’t want that implied is Adam Schefter tweeting to all of his followers saying, “Yep, the NFL sure seems like they’re rigging the games for the Chiefs.”

We could not agree more, Eric. Calling people out on their irresponsible rhetoric is going to become an essential skill in the days to come and I guess we can start practicing here with the inanity of Schefter's take.
