The Philadelphia Eagles have designated veteran defensive end Brandon Graham to return from injured reserve, which opens a 21-day practice window. The move comes in anticipation of his potential readiness for Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Graham suffered a torn triceps in Week 12, an injury initially believed to be season-ending. However, with the Eagles securing a spot in the Super Bowl, Graham has been working towards a potential return.
In a recent interview, Graham expressed optimism about his recovery. "I feel good. This has been the easiest injury, I'd say, out of the injuries I've had. Upper body stuff is a little bit easier. .... It's just making sure I'm building muscle, I'm getting stronger and doing the right things to where I'm not re-hurting it. We'll see what the docs say, see what's going on, and go from there."
Graham went on to say he was taking things "one day at a time" which means nothing is certain about his status for Super Bowl LIX just yet. The game is scheduled for Sunday, February 9.
Throughout his 15-year tenure with the Eagles, Graham has been a cornerstone of the team's defense. While Graham is no longer a starter along the Eagles' defensive front, he remains an important part on and off the field. This season, prior to his injury, Graham appeared in 11 games, recording 3.5 sacks, giving him 76.5 in his storied career. He also has 5.5 sacks and 10 quarterback hits in 11 postseason games, all with the Eagles.
