The Philadelphia Eagles have given former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown a place to land in the second week of free agency. It's a string of successive one-year deals for the veteran wideout, with reports saying the contract is worth up to $10 million.

For the last two seasons, the idea of Hollywood Brown on a prove-it deal has been a sizable hope for the Chiefs' offense. Unfortunately, those hopes have remained unfounded as both sides decided it was best to end the experiment.

In 2024, the Chiefs landed Brown in free agency away from the Arizona Cardinals with the idea that he could potentially put up another 1,000-yard campaign with Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback. Instead, Brown ended up missing the entire season due to an injury suffered on his very first preseason catch with the team. He'd return for the final two games and a rather uninspired postseason stretch that left both sides wanting.

The Chiefs decided to try again with another one-year deal in '25, but Brown's story turned sour like so many others on the Chiefs that year. Instead of taking advantage of a wide-open wide receiver room to start the year, Brown watched Tyquan Thornton emerge after the first few weeks of the season to become the Chiefs' most effective weapon in the passing game, despite Rashee Rice being suspended and Xavier Worthy being injured.

On the year, Brown put up modest gains of 49 catches, 587 yards, and 5 touchdowns, but his impact was disproportional to the opportunity in front of him, and it got worse as the season progressed. Brown would end the year with 1 catch or less in 4 of his last 9 games.

Brown will be 29 years old when the season begins, but there's enough tread left on the tires for Eagles fans to remain positive about the addition. Injuries have robbed him of some of the dynamism he once had, but there's no doubt he remains a reliable contributor who can still stretch defenses with his speed.
