The Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiving corps can't seen to catch a break. The position already faced a number of health concerns coming into training camp, and after a couple of weeks in St. Joseph, no other spot on the roster has dealt with more injuries. Now another competitor has been hurt after Tuesday's practice with the news that Jimmy Holiday was forced to leave early.
Chiefs Digest's Matt Derrick reported that Holiday was taken away on a cart before practice was over. No further details were immediately available.
Holiday originally signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft. He received two rookie minicamp invitations—the Chiefs and New York Giants—but K.C. held theirs first, and Holiday landed a contract before the weekend was over. From there, Holiday held onto a 90-man roster spot through training camp and then landed with the team's practice squad after active roster cuts were due in late August.

From there, Holiday hung onto his PS spot with a one-week absence as the Chiefs shuffled some defensive linemen (after the signing of Mike Pennel) at mid-season. The Buffalo Bills brought him in for a tryout, but ultimately signed former Chiefs wideout Mecole Hardman instead. Kansas City brought Holiday back into the fold and then kept him around with a futures signing for the '26 season.
Holiday's ability to stick around shows a real belief on the part of the team's coaching staff that he could turn into a useful part. That's interesting because his collegiate production was nothing to write home about. After three ineffective seasons in Tennessee, Holiday transferred to Western Kentucky in '23 and then Louisiana Tech in '24. His career totals: 63 catches, 913 receiving yards, 5 touchdowns.
Hopefully Holiday will be able to return shortly because his best chance to impress the Chiefs' decision-makers is coming on Saturday when the team hosts the L.A. Rams for the preseason opener at Arrowhead. If not, other competitors like Jason Brownlee, Jacob De Jesus, and Andrew Armstrong will get a leg up with little summer runway left.
