Chiefs unveil Kingdom Creators with a new vision for fan media

It's a smart move by the franchise.

From podcasts and YouTube channels to newsletters and meme accounts, Chiefs Kingdom has built an entire media ecosystem around the franchise. Now the team is finding a way to bring them all together.

The Chiefs announced this week that they're launching Kingdom Creators, a new initiative that will work with independent creators who already spend their time interacting with Chiefs Kingdom and discussing all facets of the organization. The inaugural class will be capped at 30 creators and features an application process, which promises opportunities for some VIP experiences, exclusive access, and interactive experiences.

What makes this exciting is that the Chiefs aren't trying to invent something new. They recognize that so much of our fandom takes place around the team already in unofficial ways—via already established outlets and channels that have built loyal followings. The team is wise to lean in and encourage those voices.

Kingdom Creators is also exciting because it fits a much larger vision for the organization in terms of media and fan engagement. The Chiefs have been launching original programming and intriguing initiatives in recent years to enhance their brand and reach, with a list that includes:

There's a sense that Kingdom Creators takes things to the next level in terms of how the Chiefs engage with their now-global fan base. And it's smart for the team to acknowledge something Chiefs Kingdom has known for years: that some of the biggest conversations surrounding the franchise don't originate inside One Arrowhead Drive.
