Another day of training camp brought Family Fun Day into view on a Saturday morning at Missouri Western State University. The entire team was signing autographs for fans in attendance in St. Joseph, but of course, there was also something called football to watch. Fans were treated to an emotional practice on Saturday. Here's what you need to know.

Some players return from injury

It was nice to see some players back in pads on Saturday at camp. Linebacker Jeffrey Bassa missed two practices with a groin injury, but he was back on the field on Saturday, which bolsters concerns at position that already saw Drue Tranquill miss time with back spasms.

Cornerback Kristian Fulton had also missed some practice time due to injury but he was back in pads. Even rookie corner Mansoor Delane was in pads with a yellow non-contact jersey as the Chiefs continue to monitor his shoulder injury while giving him invaluable reps.

As for players sitting out, Trey Smith continues to deal with a hip injury that required a specialist's opinion. More details likely to come on that front. A hamstring injury also kept Ashton Gillotte out for another day, while wide receiver Xavier Worthy has missed a full week in pads after hurting his shoulder a week ago.

Chiefs get chippy

The talk of Saturday's practice was all about the skirmishes, as a couple of flare-ups in practice kept things interesting. Felix Anudike-Uzomah and Kingsley Suamataia got into it, and the left guard even threw a punch at the defensive lineman before both sides were separated by teammates.

Some time later, running back Kenneth Walker took exception to Alohi Gilman's push out of bounds and the pair got into it as well.

For a team that won six games a year ago, you hope for a chippy practice like this to show the effort. Patrick Mahomes said as much in his post-practice media session.

"Six straight days of just going against the same guys and just being competitive. I think that’s what’s great about this camp is it’s super-competitive on both sides, so there are little scuffles here and there, but nothing crazy. As long as we keep it like that and keep competing, that’s how you’re going to get the best football team you can get."

Rashee Rice leaves practice

The Chiefs will ultimately update fans on what happened with Rashee Rice at practice, but he left early for the training complex. The wide receiver is still making his way back from offseason knee surgery, so perhaps he was headed back for regularly scheduled maintenance, but his condition is worth watching for a team that's going to very dependent on him in the passing game.
