The Kansas City Chiefs have made one more move in free agency to shore up the offseason roster so they can head into the 2025 NFL Draft with even fewer needs. On Monday, it was announced that the team had signed Janarius Robinson to bolster the defensive front.
Robinson joins the Chiefs as a familiar face after spending the last two seasons in the AFC West with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Robinson appeared in 10 games last season for the Raiders, but played sparingly on defense with only 109 snaps to his name. That said, he's also an experienced special teams player who can carve out a role on the depth chart for both Steve Spagnuolo's and Dave Toub's units.
The Minnesota Vikings originally drafted Robinson in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Florida State at No. 134 overall. Unfortunately he was lost for the year on injured reserve and he was injured again in '22 with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Raiders claimed him in 2023 and Robinson finally earned playing time over the last two seasons there in Las Vegas.
Robinson joins the list of players hoping to make preseason waves at defensive end behind presumed starters George Karlaftis and Michael Danna. Felix Anudike-Uzomah is in the mix and hoping to make a leap in his third NFL season. The Chiefs also re-signed Charles Omenihu this offseason.
As for fringe competitors, the Chiefs have Malik Herring also returning this offseason in free agency as well as former fifth-round selection B.J. Thompson, who has faced significant health concerns in the last year.
