The Kansas City Chiefs' 0-2 start to the 2025 season and subsequent inability to look like anything resembling a dangerous team on Sunday Night football against Russell Wilson and the New York Giants have now started to emotionally break some of the senior members of the team.
Tight end Travis Kelce and head coach Andy Reid appear to be losing some of the star power they would overwhelm teams with back in the day. As they continue to flounder in 2025, emotions are starting to run high in a way that looks more concerning than ever before.
One of Kansas City's more promising drives of the game ended in disappointment, as a screen meant to Kelce resulted in a loss before a blown Jawaan Taylor block and missed field goal led to a scoreless rut. After that play, Reid and Kelce could be seen screaming at one another.
While these two names going back and forth verbally has never been cause for huge alarm, as Kelce and Reid famously locked horns during the Super Bowl. However, this looks like a case of frustration boiling over, which may be less than ideal.
Chiefs TE Travis Kelce spars with coach Andy Reid on sideline
Kelce has struggled in the beginning of what many believe will be his final season, as the object of Taylor Swift's desire has just eight catches and barely over 100 yards to begin the 2025 campaign. Even if he is effective, Father Time is clearly forcing Kelce to take a step back.
Reid's offenses, in tandem with the influencer Matt Nagy is bringing to the table, appear to be a bit behind the times. The combination of a lack of skill position talent and an over-reliance on very short passes doesn't seem to be threatening any defenses, and that seems to be getting to both of these leaders.
Kansas City may indeed turn things around soon, as Mahomes seems to do more often than not, but things are looking fairly glum as the glory days start to come to a close, and many of the biggest names on the team aren't taking it well.
