The Kansas City Chiefs continue to lock up their rookie class following the 2026 NFL Draft. While several draftees aren't technically under contract yet, fourth-round pick Jadon Canady officially signed his rookie contract on Wednesday.
Canady's deal, like all others, is a slotted deal with terms already dictated by the collective bargaining agreement. It's a four-year deal worth $5.472 million with an average annual value of $1.368M according to contract figures from Spotrac. The pact includes a $1.227M signing bonus and pays him $1.192M in base salary and prorated bonus money in 2026.
The Chiefs selected the Oregon defensive back with their fourth-round pick (at No. 109 overall) , doubling down on the secondary after using their initial first-round choice (at No. 6) on LSU corner Mansoor Delane. Canady comes with experience all over the defensive backfield, both as a nickel corner and safety, which should prove useful in the Chiefs' secondary.
Fourth-round pick Jadon Canady has officially signed his rookie contract with the Chiefs.
Canady spent two seasons at Tulane and two at Ole Miss before transferring to Oregon for his fifth and final year. With the Ducks in 2025, he posted 39 total tackles, 2 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble. According to Pro Football Focus, Canady surrendered a 39.4 passer rating in coverage last fall.
Canady is slight at 5-10, 181 lbs., and he projects as a slot defender early in his career. The Chiefs lost Trent McDuffie in that regard, but they've now added Canady to a mix that includes new free-agent signing Kader Kohou, who was with the Miami Dolphins a year ago, along with holdovers like Christian Roland-Wallace and Kevin Knowles.
Canady was the fourth straight defensive player taken by general manager Brett Veach to open the Chiefs' 2026 draft, joining first-rounders Delane and defensive tackle Peter Woods and second-round edge rusher R Mason Thomas.
