It's always fun watching the Raiders flounder.

After the Kansas City Chiefs won their Week 12 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, fans then got to kick back and watch the games in the second window. One of those games consisted of the Las Vegas Raiders, who got blown out by the two-win (now three-win) Cleveland Browns who were starting Shedeur Sanders, a fifth-round rookie quarterback, for the first time.

The end result of that game forced the Raiders to backtrack on an offseason move that had been largely applauded by the talking heads in the media. Las Vegas made the decision to fire offensive coordinator Chip Kelly after it was clear that he wasn't the right guy to call the plays in Sin City.

Raiders finally own up to a massive blunder and fire Chip Kelly

When the Raiders hired Kelly to run their offense for the 2025 season, it was largely viewed as a great move. Kelly was coming off a National Championship season with the Ohio State Buckeyes, calling plays for their offense and seemingly reinventing himself after some down years in his career.

The Raiders believed so much in Kelly being the right guy for their new system that they made him the highest-paid coordinator for the 2025 season. Yeah, that didn't age well at all.

Well, now that 12 weeks are in the books for the Raiders and they saw Kelly's offense in action for a few months, it was clear it wasn't working. Vegas' offense was averaging 15.0 points per game, which is not good, to say the least. A change needed to be made for sure.

As to how this impacts the Chiefs, the Raiders aren't exactly a threat to pass them in the AFC West standings. That being said, these two teams do play each other in Week 18 and the Chiefs might need to win that game to get into the playoffs. Perhaps the Raiders offense improves now that Kelly has been kicked to the curb and can put up more of fight against Kansas City than they did earlier in the season when the Chiefs blanked them 31-0.

It's fun to watch the Raiders continue to flounder but hopefully this doesn't give the Vegas offense a boost. K.C. needs the Raiders to keep being the Raiders, especially in that Week 18 matchup.
