What's the celebration plan?

Kansas City is no stranger to holding championship parades and rallies. First, the Kansas City Royals won a World Series in 2015, introducing the city to its first championship parade in three decades. A little over four years later, the Kansas City Chiefs won their first Super Bowl title in 50 years and that led to another championship parade.

In 2023 and 2024, Kansas City hosted two more parades and rallies after the Chiefs added two more Super Bowl trophies to their trophy case. It's a perfectly reasonable expectation at this point to wonder what the plans might be for Super Bowl LIX should K.C. take down the Eagles and complete the three-peat.

Well, according to multiple sources, the Chiefs won't have a rally if the team wins Super Bowl LIX. According to Alyssa Mueller and Malik Jackson of FOX 4, "If they win, the celebration will begin with an exclusive gathering at Arrowhead Stadium for players, their families, Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas. That gathering may be broadcast on screens along the parade route."

"Following the Arrowhead celebration, players would stage near Crown Center. Players will load there for the parade, with a parade route to begin at Pershing and Main, then go to Grand and extend up Grand to 6th Street."

There won't be a rally if the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIX.

Essentially, it sounds as though things will work in reverse than normal. Instead of kicking off with the parade and finishing with the rally, the Chiefs will have a quieter celebration with the players, families, and other Kansas City personnel. They'll then have a parade following the celebration.

The reason why the change is being made this year is more than likely because of the tragic shooting at last year's Super Bowl rally that resulted in one fatality.

Chiefs fans have grown accustomed to the parade and rally in recent years, but making these changes a year after a shooting occured at the rally makes sense. Keeping people safe is the biggest priority, and it's good to see the Chiefs taking precautions.
