As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to take the next step in the journey toward a historic three-peat—the AFC Championship game—head coach Andy Reid updated the media on the state of some players in potential flux in terms of playing status.
Going into another week of practice in advance of the Buffalo Bills' visit scheduled for Sunday evening, the Chiefs are wondering whether wide receiver Mecole Hardman is going to be able to give it a go in the showdown to determine who is headed to the Super Bowl.
Andy Reid addressed the media on Monday as the Chiefs prep for the AFC Championship game.
Coach Reid was uncertain at this point on Hardman's status going into Sunday, but the Chiefs will also practice multiple times this week, which means multiple further updates on Hardman will be forthcoming.
Hardman has been dealing with a knee injury requiring surgery earlier this year, and he already sat out the Chiefs' win over the Houston Texans in the divisional round. He may continue to miss time, but the fact that he's returned to practice, even in part, since coming off of injured reserve is a good sign of an eventual return.
Without Hardman, the Chiefs turned to Nikko Remigio and Samaje Perine against the Texans and that may be the case again.
As for other personnel updates, Chiefs cornerback Jaylen Watson was back with the defense on Saturday in the divisional round for the first time since suffering a fibula fracture back in a win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7.
On Monday, Reid addressed concerns about Watson saying he was good to go after his first game back. Chiefs fans should only expect to see a rise in snaps from Watson. The third-year corner played in 59 percent of defensive snaps in the divisional round.
