Super Bowl LIX will get underway in just over 24 hours, and the Kansas City Chiefs have finalized their roster by making some final changes on Saturday. The Chiefs decided to promote two players from the practice squad to the active roster, per NFL game day rules, shortly before facing the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesar's Superdome.

Both cornerback Steven Nelson and linebacker Swayze Bozeman will be on the active roster for the game, although whether those those players will be active or inactive come game time is another matter for the future.

Bozeman is the best bet to be active on Sunday evening because he's been a quality special teams addition in all four facets since primarily inheriting that role from Jack Cochrane. Cochrane was injured for the season after fracturing his ankle in Week 16.

The Chiefs added Bozeman as an undrafted free agent last spring after the Southern Miss product went undrafted. He was active for three games near the end of the regular season and another two in the postseason.

Steven Nelson is an interesting call-up and maybe it's a favor for a veteran player who re-joined the team after several seasons away as a free agent signing in the second half of the season. At the time, the Chiefs were trying to manage without Jaylen Watson who'd been placed for several weeks on the injured list and Steve Spagnuolo wasn't having an easy time finding a new combination in the secondary.

Nelson decided to un-retire to join the Chiefs on the practice squad, but instead of finding his name called on game days, he remained there on the PS as the Chiefs eventually saw Joshua Williams and Nazeeh Johnson step up into roles that worked well enough before Watson returned from IR.

The Chiefs' move to promote Nelson gives him a healthier check for being on the active roster on game day, the same thing they did for Deon Bush in the Divisional Round and Justyn Ross in the conference championship.

The Chiefs and Eagles are set to kick off on Sunday, February 9 at 5:30 C.T.
