On Thursday, the UCLA Bruins football program decided to rid themselves of their offensive coordinator in hopes that changes might keep the team from finishing at No. 117 overall a year from now. That move set longtime coach Eric Bieniemy free, looking for his next job just one season after taking the SoCal gig in the first place.
The sudden availability was a major source of discussioin this week for Chiefs fans on social media, who had immediate opinions about what happened at UCLA and where EB should look next: Kansas CIty.
Plenty of Chiefs fans were calling for Bieniemy to come back to K.C., even if it's in a short-term advisory role. Let's look at some of the responses from fans in the wake of Bieniemy's termination.
Eric Bieniemy was let go from Deshaun Foster's staff at UCLA after a single season.
One narrative that some fans or analysts are purporting has to do with discipline for the Chiefs' offense. The notion is that Bieniemy was always willing to call out players who were out of line for one reason or another—even if they were the team's stars. Without that discipline...
Please find a way after this season or after UCLA’s season is over with to bring back Eric Bieniemy. There, I said it. He is needed here more than anyone wants to admit. Yes, one man can make a difference. This offense is lacking some SERIOUS discipline.

Another appreciateid facet of Bieniemy's coaching style is the "juice" that he brings to the sidelines. There's no denying Bieniemy's undying passion for the game he played himself as a running back.
I hope that if Coach Bieniemy decides to return to the NFL the Chiefs consider bringing him back in some sort of role on the staff .. the guy brings a toughness and juice to the lockeroom / meeting room and the practice field!!! #ChiefsKingdom pic.twitter.com/dJTjqNhSSB

Several responses were overwhelmingly supportive of Bieniemy given his body of work and extensive experience—even if it's not a return to K.C. in his future.
Eric Bieniemy plans to come back to the NFL next season. Wherever he lands I wish him a ton of success. If he ends up back with the #Chiefs I for one will welcome him w open arms! ♥️💛 https://t.co/Gv01P81AYC

Some fans admitted they needed a bit of time to think about it before coming to a positive conclusion about bringing EB back into the fold.
After some thought.. I’d 100% take Eric Bieniemy over Matt Nagy even with all of the hate and criticism Chiefs fans gave and blamed him for over the years. He didn’t deserve any of it.

While some fans and general NFL experts want to call out Bieniemy's inability to get a job as a reason why he's "overrated", including his recent short stint in UCLA, there are reasons to be listed and some fans of Bieniemy were offering those arguments on social media in the wake of his firing.
I'll leave this here about Eric Bieniemy: When did the Chiefs offense turn mortal and into this game-management version? Right after he left for the Commanders for '23. So...

strangest thing about bienemy's career so far is that no one seems to realize that UCLA would not have won a game without him, that sam howell is still employed because of him, and the chiefs haven't looked unstoppable since his departure.

he deserves his credit.
And of course, correlation isn't causation, but some fans want to simplify things anyway and romanticize the firepower the Chiefs once exhibited on offense in Patrick Mahomes' early seasons.
