As the Kansas City Chiefs returned to practice for another day on their way to a Week 9 showdown against the Buffalo Bills, the offense got a key component back after a day away. Wide receiver Hollywood Brown was spotted back on the field after missing practice on Wednesday due to illness.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid acknowledged in his press remarks to start the week of practice that Brown's illness wasn't expected to be a long-term concern. Those words proved true when Brown was back in practice, and that means an offense that's proved impossible to slow will once again be at full strength in an important conference meeting before the team's bye in Week 10.
While Brown doesn't represent a significant share of Patrick Mahomes' targets in the team's passing attack, the full array of weapons is what makes the unit so dangerous. Together with Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Tyquan Thornton, and JuJu Smith-Schuster, defenses simply focus too heavily on one player without getting burned by another.
The Chiefs' offensive balance is best illustrated by Brown's own production levels in 2025. During Week 8's win over the Washington Commanders, Brown failed to make a catch and was only targeted one time in 26 snaps. However, Brown also had 4 touchdown catches in the previous four games, proving that he's not fallen out of favor in the grander scheme.
As for the rest of the Chiefs' injury report, the team was only missing two players in practice on Thursday with Brown back at work. Rookie tackle Josh Simmons remains out while attending to a personal matter, and he isn't expected back in practice anytime soon. Running back Isiah Pacheco also sat out, which was also expected as he recovers from an MCL sprain suffered in Week 8.
The Chiefs are scheduled to visit Buffalo on Sunday, November 2 at 3:25 p.m. C.T.
