Early early round prospects to late-round flyers, the Kansas City Chiefs are using up their pre-draft allotment of 30 in-person player visits as the 2026 NFL Draft approaches. General manager Brett Veach has already summoned some players who will go very early in this year's draft—such as Miami pass rusher Rueben Bain Jr. or Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate. The latest visit, however, finds the team digging for more information on a player who will watch the first few rounds slip by before hoping to hear his name called.
Louisville defensive lineman Rene Konga is the latest reported visitor to the Chiefs' facilities in the hopes of impressing the team's decision makers. Konga is making the rounds after putting up impressive pro day numbers.

🏈 4.78 40-yard dash
🏈 37-inch vertical
🏈 10’2” Broad Jump
🏈 4.56 shuttle
🏈 7.26 L-Drill
Vertical, broad jump, shuttle, and L-Drill would have all ranked No. 1 among DTs at the Combine. His 40-yard dash would have been No. 2 among all DTs. https://t.co/Noe8tYiMhZ pic.twitter.com/zKIRTiXpI1
While he's entering the draft after finishing his collegiate career at Louisville, Konga is originally from Ottawa, Ontario, and originally signed with Rutgers over offers from Syracuse, Boise State, UConn, Toledo, and UMass.
Konga spent three seasons with the Scarlet Knights, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2021 and 2022, and logging 14 tackles (3 for loss), 2 sacks, 2 pass deflections, and 1 forced fumble across 21 games. He then transferred to Louisville, where his career took off, collecting 20 tackles (3 for a loss), and 2.5 sacks in his first season with the Cardinals.
Listed at 6-4, 298 pounds, Konga became a full-time starter on Louisville's defensive line as a redshirt senior in 2025, earning Second Team All-ACC honors with 29 tackles (5 for a loss) and 1.5 sacks. He started all 12 regular-season games before opting out of the Boca Raton Bowl to prepare for the draft.
As for the Chiefs' interest, it wouldn't surprise anyone to see Veach apply at least one draft selection to the defensive interior after losing several veterans in free agency. Derrick Nnadi and Mike Pennel are gone, and the line already needed an upgrade at tackle. The Chiefs signed Khyiris Tonga as their primary boost in free agency but another prospect to pair with last year's second-round choice, Omarr Norman-Lott, would go a long way toward remaking the line around Chris Jones.
