The Kansas City Chiefs have played plenty of classic games against their top division rival, the Raiders. However, recent dominance by Kansas City has allowed the Chiefs to pull away from the Raiders in their head-to-head series history. Overall, it is obvious to say that these two franchises have lived on opposite ends of the spectrum for quite some time.

The numbers paint a staggering picture when looking into what the Chiefs have produced against the Raiders since Andy Reid made his way to Kansas City. Patrick Mahomes accentuated that point even further in his career against the Silver and Black.

This Sunday, the Chiefs will not only be looking to topple the Raiders yet again. A victory over Las Vegas would also allow Kansas City to move over .500 for the first time this season. The Chiefs' offense has been on a roll the last few weeks. Perhaps they can carry past offensive performances against the Raiders into this Sunday's game.

We know K.C. has had the Raiders' number for much of the last 12 years. Let's dive into some key stats of recent series history between the two rivals.

Chiefs flourish over Raiders since Reid, Mahomes takeover

Entering this Sunday's matchup, the Chiefs lead the all-time series over the Raiders. Kansas City is 75-55-2 against this specific rival. The Chiefs' current win streak over the Raiders sits at two games. Kansas City has won eight of the last 10 meetings against Las Vegas.

If you single out Mahomes and his career numbers against this AFC West foe, we would start with his overall record. He is 12-2 when facing the Raiders. In those 14 appearances, Mahomes has 33 touchdown passes and five interceptions. Notably, Kansas City has averaged 32.2 points per game when Mahomes has started against the Raiders.

Let's now move on to Andy Reid. Coach Reid is 20-4 against this rival since becoming Kansas City head coach in 2013. In all four of those losses, the Raiders won by eight points or less.

It is important to note that the Chiefs have never lost back-to-back games to this division opponent under Reid. In fact, the last time the Raiders won consecutive games over Kansas City was 2011–12, spanning three straight wins. That was just before Reid came to K.C.

Raiders look to spoil Arrowhead crowd

The two most recent wins for the Raiders in this series occurred in this Sunday's venue of Arrowhead Stadium. In some ways, the Chiefs actually thanked the Silver and Black for Las Vegas' most recent victory in Kansas City. It led to an attitude shift from K.C. before winning Super Bowl LVIII.

Of the four times that Reid has lost to the Raiders, Derek Carr was the opposing quarterback three times. That includes a win over the Chiefs in his rookie season. The most recent loss, however, happened against Aidan O'Connell.

In terms of this week's opposing Raiders quarterback, Geno Smith has only faced Kansas City once in his career. As a member of the Seahawks, he and Seattle lost to the Chiefs on a frigid Christmas Eve at Arrowhead. Smith completed just 62.5 percent of his passes that day, going 25 of 40 through the air with 215 passing yards. He also had one touchdown pass and one interception. Smith was sacked twice by the Chiefs' defense that day.
