The Kansas City Chiefs have a major need at offensive tackle and while they signed Jaylon Moore in free agency, the 2025 NFL Draft is hopefully going to be another outlet for them to add help at the tackle position.
Josh Simmons, an offensive tackle out of Ohio State, has been linked to the Chiefs frequently in mock drafts, and is officially visiting with the team ahead of the draft, per Adam Schefter. This was one of those "only a matter of time" situations, as the Chiefs have a clear need for an offensive tackle and Simmons is projected as a late first-round pick.
Simmons would likely have been projected to go much earlier in the first round had he not suffered a torn patellar tendon in October and missed the back half of the Buckeyes' National Championship season. That being said, before he got hurt, he looked like one of the best tackles in the country so getting him late in the first round would be an absolute steal for Kansas City.
Ohio State OT Josh Simmons meeting with Chiefs before draft
The Chiefs desperately need to revamp their o-line, which got demolished in Super Bowl LIX by the Eagles' pass rush. Joe Thuney is now off to Chicago and while the Chiefs brought in Moore to slide into the left tackle spot, he's only made 12 starts in a four-year span so there's a very small sample size with him.
Simmons is working his way back from the injury he suffered during the 2024 season but if he bounces back to his pre-injury form, the Chiefs could very well have their franchise left tackle and that's an exciting thought.
Of course, it's wishful thinking that Simmons will fall to K.C. at 31 but he has been mocked typically later in the first round so if things play out that way, Chiefs Kingdom would be psyched.
