The Kansas City Chiefs are no strangers to finding great players who went undrafted, also known as UDFAs. Fans are hoping that Brett Veach worked his magic this offseason to find some gems in undrafted free agency.
When listing every team's most exciting UDFA this year, Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report went with Duke EDGE rusher Vincent Anthony Jr. for Kansas City's option.
"At 6'6" and 258 pounds, Vincent Anthony looks the part of an NFL edge-rusher," Davenport wrote. "Anthony's play strength and run defense both need quite a bit of work, but his size and athleticism off the edge make him the kind of project type worth investing in."
Vincent Anthony Jr. crowned as Chiefs' most exciting UDFA addition in 2026
The Chiefs' pass-rush has not been what it once was and it's been frustrating to watch, to say the least. The Chiefs did sign Khyiris Tonga and spent high draft picks on Peter Woods and R Mason Thomas, so they have at least put some efforts into improving the unit.
That being said, on paper, Anthony is an intriguing prospect. Davenport mentioned his size and hit the nail on the head when he said that he's a player worth investing in. Anthony improved his sack totals each year during his time with the Blue Devils, going from half a sack as a freshman to two sacks as a sophomore to five sacks as a junior and finally, seven and a half sacks during his senior year. That shows that he can learn and grow, so hopefully, he can get that opportunity in Kansas City.
Anthony will have his work cut out for him when it comes to making the roster but crazier things have happened. If the Duke product has a stellar showing during training camp and preseason, why wouldn't the Chiefs consider keeping him around? Maybe he doesn't make the roster but he could also be a practice squad candidate.
UDFAs always have an uphill battle to stick around but there's a reason Anthony was crowned as Kansas City's most exciting UDFA. Let's hope he gets a chance to show us why.
