Several years have passed since the Kansas City Chiefs were remotely concerned about the next spring's NFL Draft at this point in the regular season. Typically, Chiefs Kingdom's sole focus down the stretch is the team's ability to earn home-field advantage. This year, Andy Reid's team is going to be lucky to make the playoffs at all with a record of 6-6.

The Chiefs host the Houston Texans in Week 14, and they may be able to go on an incredibly impressive run to punch their postseason ticket. At this point, however, they're scheduled to make their first-round selection in the top half of the first round.

The last time the Chiefs had a draft selection within the top half of the draft was when they made the franchise-altering trade that netted Patrick Mahomes in 2017. In that draft, the Chiefs traded two first-round picks as well as a third-round choice to the Buffalo Bills to move up from No. 27 to No. 10 in the first round. The NFL was forever changed.

As for an actual pick that early without a deal, Chiefs fans will have to go all the way back to 2013, when the team had the first overall selection. Eric Fisher, an offensive tackle out of Central Michigan, was the pick for general manager John Dorsey, which helped lay a foundation of new talent for new head coach Andy Reid.

Chiefs fans are hoping K.C.'s official pick will come much later than it's set for right now. However, if the season stopped today, here's how the official 2026 NFL Draft order would look after Week 13.
