The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine takes place this week in Indianapolis. With the offseason about to go into full swing, the Kansas City Chiefs have a ton of work to do. Each side of the ball will likely see plenty of new faces next season. Meanwhile, Kansas City needs an infusion of youth in certain areas.
The 2025 NFL Draft is going to be part of that opportunity to hopefully find young, new starters. Kansas City is set to have six draft selections this year. That includes three picks currently within the top 66. The Chiefs will be challenged to stay on top of their game in a tight division. With that in mind, there are several different scenarios that K.C. could utilize in this year's draft.
In this run-through, fortifying and strengthening needs on offense were at the forefront. You can find some of the names from this mock draft in the Arrowhead Addict Big Board. Without further ado, let's reveal the group of players that we came away with in the mock draft.
Round 1, Pick 31 - Josh Conerly Jr., OT, Oregon
Unless you have been living under a rock, the Chiefs have a major need at left tackle. Andy Reid said at the Combine that they are "keeping everything wide open" when it comes to left tackle plans. It will be interesting to see if they try to address that in free agency or via trade with a veteran. If not, Josh Conerly Jr. is a worthwhile bet at the end of round one for Kansas City.
Conerly Jr. checked in at number 24 overall on the Arrowhead Addict big board amid a top-heavy offensive tackle class. His length is a key part of his game upfront. Conerly Jr. measured with a 34-inch arm length at this year's Senior Bowl.
Meanwhile, Conerly's footwork and movement skills are some of the better positives from his game. This shows up while he sets in his stance with an advantageous, wide base. Conerly Jr. was also effective at Oregon when pulling in space and climbing to the second level. Simply put, there is a lot of consistency to his game.
Round 2, Pick 63 - Jayden Higgins, WR, Iowa State
Another prospect who attended the 2025 Senior Bowl, Jayden Higgins is a bit bigger than what the Chiefs generally have utilized at wide receiver around Patrick Mahomes. However, it would not hurt to add more size to the wide receiver room going forward. Part of getting the Kansas City offense back to being explosive will hinge on Mahomes getting confident enough to take aggressive shots more often.
Higgins's ability to dominate in contested catch situations, while also making impressive grabs in traffic, could help aid those aggressive chances. And even with his size, there is some smoothness to his routes, especially when shaking defenders while working vertically. Pro Football Focus credited Higgins with a low drop rate and an astounding grade against man coverage in 2024.
Round 3, Pick 66 - Kaleb Johnson, RB, Iowa
Kaleb Johnson is one of the more fun running backs to watch in a deep running back class. Getting him here feels like a steal, especially with him sitting at No. 40 overall in the Arrowhead Addict big board. Johnson brings a mix of great balance, vision, and burst to the table. And in Andy Reid's offense, the Iowa product is one of the more natural fits for an outside zone running scheme. Johnson also fared well as a pass catcher for the Hawkeyes.
Isiah Pacheco and Carson Steele are the only running backs under contract for 2025. Being able to find a dynamic, smart running back like Johnson would do wonders for the offense. Getting younger in this spot is truly crucial this offseason.
Round 3, Pick 95 - Joshua Farmer, DT, Florida State
Chris Jones is the only defensive tackle under contract for 2025. This is a spot where Kansas City has likely needed more depth and upgrades for a good bit. Joshua Farmer would bring a ton of beef into the Chiefs' defensive front, weighing over 300 pounds.
Farmer's power and strength stood out the most when watching what he did on the Seminoles' defense, which would be a handful for opposing blockers to deal with. That is especially true when Farmer is tasked as a run defender. With the Chiefs possibly losing parts of the spine of their defense, remaining adequate as a run defense is where he could potentially pitch in early on.
Round 4, Pick 132 - David Walker, EDGE, Central Arkansas
Adding beyond George Karlaftis and Mike Danna at defensive end will be key this offseason. It does not have to be done in a flashy way. Though, the Chiefs experienced cold spells as a pass rush last season.
David Walker would be an intriguing chance to take out of a smaller school, Central Arkansas. Walker was most impressive with his pass rush moves. He used many different techniques to chase down opposing quarterbacks. He can win with both quickness off the ball or with power.
Round 7, Pick 256 - Karene Reid, LB, Utah
To round out this mock draft, Kansas City adds to their linebacker room. If Nick Bolton leaves, Drue Tranquill and Leo Chenal are still a compelling duo. Yet, more depth is necessary at that spot if their top MIKE linebacker moves on.
Karene Reid comes out of Utah with plenty of experience. He played 43 games in college, including 39 starts for the Utes. He also led their linebacker room in tackles in 2024. Reid most stood out with a combination of instincts and toughness.
