A primetime NFL game is a major stage for all involved.
The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Los Angeles Chargers in a key AFC West matchup on Sunday Night Football in Week 14—yet another primetime showing for K.C. in '24. A Chiefs win would secure the division title, but the Chargers are eager to solidify their playoff position as the current fifth seed in the AFC. It would also provide a major statement on national television.
In their previous meeting, Kansas City came from behind to win 17-10 in Week 4, showcasing their defensive strength. Since then, the Chargers have improved, winning five of their last six games, thanks to a stout defense and effective performances from rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey and quarterback Justin Herbert. However, injuries to key offensive players like McConkey and running back J.K. Dobbins could hinder their effectiveness.
Then again, the Chiefs are without Jaylen Watson in the secondary and the defense has looked like a shell of the same unit that held the Chargers scoreless after the first quarter in the first meeting. The offense is improved with reinforcements, but who knows what version of the Chiefs defense will show up on Sunday night.
Even for those outside of the actual players, the chance to take the stage during an NFL primetime game is a big deal. That includes those asked to come and sing or perform in some way before or after the game.

Retired United States Navy Petty Officer First Class Generald Wilson is a very popular vocalist and native of Kinloch, Missouri who has sung the National Anthem on seemingly every possible occasion you can think of. He's sung at Arrowhead Stadium before, including last season's primetime showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Chiefs in Week 11.
