Broncos radio call of blocked field goal will have Chiefs fans crying from laughter
Denver Broncos fans had to be sick as they watched the final moments of Week 10's match-up between their team and the Kansas City Chiefs play out. With Bo Nix and the Broncos offense putting together a 13-play drive that chewed up the final six minutes of game time, Wil Lutz and the field goal unit lined up to kick a 35-yard field goal.
Broncos fans had to be feeling on top of the world in that moment. After all, Denver had not defeated the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium since the 2015 season when Peyton Manning was still the Broncos quarterback so this was a long- time coming for that fan base. The win was right there for the taking.
Well, the Broncos' coveted win in Arrowhead Stadium will have to wait even longer, as in stunning fashion, Leo Chenal blocked Lutz's field goal attempt, giving K.C. the two-point win and moving them to 9-0. The Broncos, meanwhile, dropped to 5-5, and again, their fanbase has to be downright sick at how that game ended.
Last November saw the Broncos end a 16-game losing streak to the Chiefs and it looked as though they were about to start their first winning streak against K.C. in nearly a decade. Despite the offense doing what it needed to do in the final minutes, the Broncos special teams unit couldn't get it done and the Broncos are now winless in their last nine games at Arrowhead Stadium. Chiefs fans love seeing this after what the Broncos did to them during the Manning era.
The win was sweet enough as it is but if Chiefs fans haven't listened to the Broncos radio call of the blocked field goal, it's an absolute must-listen. The Denver announcers are clearly heartbroken at how the game ended and it's a call that will make Chiefs fans laugh hysterically.
Chiefs fans can't stop laughing at Broncos radio call of blocked field goal
As Broncos play-by-play announcer Dave Logan sets up what he hopes to be an incredible game-winning call, the field goal is blocked and he sadly says, "It is blocked," with 10 seconds of Chiefs fans joyfully screaming in the background while Logan is still clearly stunned. He eventually pipes up, adding, "I don't even know what to say. I really... am at a loss for words. Thirty-five-yard field goal blocked with one second to go and Kansas City is gonna get out of here with a 16-14 win over the Broncos."
Again, the Broncos losing is funny enough as it is but when you throw in that it's to the Chiefs AND the radio call from the enemy's radio network is THIS good? Chef's kiss.
